Behaviour Policy

• We aim to provide a safe learning environment where students can develop positive self-esteem, take responsibility for themselves, become self-disciplined, and to consider the well-being of others and the nature around them.

•    To set guidance on how learners are expected to behave to keep everyone safe, and this will then encourage a fun learning environment.

• Forest school leader and all adults working on the forest school site be aware of all children’s needs (including SEN learners)

• Positive role models from adults working on the forest school site. To be kind, caring, and fun, and to share good manners. Adults to be engaging children in activities that involve sharing, teamwork and co-operation.

• Encourage positive feedback but in an impactful way by explaining why they have done something good. 

Handling Misbehaviour

•     Create positive strategies for handling conflict. By effective communication to understand the problem and then finding a good solution. Encourage children to find these solutions themselves, rather than just telling them what to do. This encourages them to use their own initiative and problem-solving skills.

• · The forest school leader takes that time and space to give one-to-one support with each child to understand the conflict. To discuss this together to resolve the problem with a positive solution. Creating a timeout area for children to calm down, be alone, and take space from the other children could also be a useful solution. When recurring problems occur over a longer period, then involve communication with the parents of the children to find a solution.
