Wild Willows Forest School
Aimed at children aged 2-12 years
Nature Play Sessions for Children and Families Parent/Carer stay session.
Fridays 10am-12pm
We aim to create a holistic caring space for all children to be seen, heard, and valued. The sessions will aim to be child-led; we will offer an option of different activities each week, and there will be a snack cooked on the fire.
These sessions are aimed at pre-school-aged families and children aged 4-12 years who are choosing to home educate. Here at Wild Willows Forest School, we are building a community where families gather to build social connections and a supportive network for both children and guardians. This is why we provide a block booking option to provide this long term commitment for the children to build trust with each other and to feel safe and confident within the environment.
Wild Willows is situated in the beautiful woodland at Hannah Fields Community Gardens. This is a community space, and we feel within this space it is important to continue to connect local families.
“Our vision is to tend the land and its people - creating a haven where wildlife flourishes, nourishing food grow, and every person can reconnect, breathe deeply, and rediscover their natural balance.” (Hannah Fields CIC)
During this time when children are more exposed to technology, we value the importance of providing outdoor space for children to learn through play, creativity, and connect to nature. Forest School has been proven to support children in developing confidence, resilience, and improving their self-esteem.

Why we encourage block booking:
Principle 1: Forest School is a long-term process of frequent and regular sessions in a woodland or natural environment, rather than a one-off visit. Planning, adaptation, observations and reviewing are integral elements of Forest School (Forest School Association, 2011)
• Forest School takes place regularly, ideally at least every other week, with the same group of learners, over an extended period of time, if practicable, encompassing the seasons (Forest School Association, 2011)
Principle 3: Forest School aims to promote the holistic development of all those involved, fostering resilient, confident, independent and creative learners (Forest School Association, 2011)
Here at Wild Willows Forest School, we understand the value of developing children’s resilience and confidence. By attending regular sessions, this can provide a safe, holistic learning environment for children’s emotional wellbeing to thrive.
We do offer Limited one off bookings during term time so your child can try one of the sessions before signing up to the block booking.
