Tool Safety Policy
The forest school leader is responsible for overseeing safe use of tools by learners and ensuring that they are being supervised at this time.
· The forest school leader is responsible for safely storing tools. Using labelled boxes with a checklist for each tool is important. This will help prevent tools being lost and help the learners keep safe.
It’s important to lock the toolbox that includes knives and saws when you are not using them.
· Before the use of each tool, it is important to complete a safety tool talk. This will help the learner to understand how to use the tool but also to keep them safe during use.
· Activity risk assessment should be completed for each tool before use. Benefit-risk assessment should also have been completed.
